Moving away from the more traditional navy base and white logos, this piece is built with a black crown and visor with the signature LF logo embroidered in metallic gold stitch. Lafayette have been rolling out pieces from their Spring collection over the past couple weeks with the latest being this season's LF logo 59FIFTY. With this piece Layette have chosen to honour Marquis de Lafayette aka The Hero of the Two Worlds; a French aristocrat and military officer, who was instrumental in the defeat of the British during the American Revolutionary War.

Built with the standard LF logo, appearing in white raised embrodiery on the navy cap and Lafayette stitched on the rear, the real story is the side patch. Lafayette pay homage to the history of New York with their latest AW12 59Fifty. The fitted dubbed "New Amsterdam" is a tribute to the original name of the southern tip of Manhattan Island which served as the capital city of New Netherland. The Dutch had colonised the east coast of America and made it part of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. 

It wasn't until 1667 that it was renamed "New York" after the Duke of York, who later became King James II of England, when the British took control of Manhattan and the rest of the Dutch colony.
