First appearing in Japanese magazine Weekly Manga Action in 1967, Lupin III became a popular media franchise spawning various manga, animated television series and films as well as being referenced in quotable rap lyrics. The series follows the adventures of master thief Arsène Lupin III, the fictional grandson of Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin.
Based on the Japanese manga series Dr. Slump, New Era have brought the cap worn by the protagonist Arale Norimaki to life. Arale, a robot built by Senbei Norimaki, is often depicted sporting a winged cap with her name on the front.
Celebrating 15 years of swashbuckling action, Japanese manga series One Piece collaborate with New Era for a special anniversary 59FIFTY. Built using a black crown and visor the lion figurehead of the Thousand Sunny appears, embroidered in its traditional colours, on the front panels. On the stern of the cap "15th anniversary" stitched stylised like rope holding an anchor. The piece is completed using a map printed on the undervisor.
